Rising production cost from more media
PLUS was producing more catalogs with limited staff. Six media were often produced at the same time, followed immediately by the next projects and additional catalog requests.
Because many catalogs shared common products, the team expected that systematizing production and connecting product data would reduce repeated work.

Catalog XCMS matched the need for product database linkage, reuse across media and reduced DTP work. Its visual interface also made it approachable for users without deep production-system experience.
A key benefit was reflecting product database corrections into every in-progress medium, reducing missed updates across concurrently produced catalogs.

Because the system is web based, the transition to remote work went smoothly. Correction checks became lighter, schedules remained stable even as media increased, and the team estimates a 20 to 30 percent reduction in base production costs depending on the catalog.
